The Furry Friends Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to providing shelter and love to abandoned, lost or rescued animals in the Barrie community. We provide care to 500+ cats and kittens each year. We do not euthanize healthy animals for any reason.
We are a registered charity (#882610124), funded by generous donors and supporters and operated completely by dedicated volunteers.
Furry Friends has been rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats for over 20 years.
Rescue: We take in surrenders, strays and hoarded cats, and work with other local animal rescue organizaitons and people in the community to trap/rescue cats in need. Because we’re entirely donation supported a surrender fee will be requested to cover costs we’ll incur. The amount depends on the number & condition of the cat(s).
Rehabilitation: At the shelter and in foster homes we provide proper nutrition, essential vaccines, microchips and ensure that all cats and kittens are spayed/neutered. When necessary, we arrange emergency surgeries and medical treatments. We are dedicated to socializing and building trust with fearful cats, and offer lots of TLC, no matter what.
Rehoming: As soon as our furry friends are adoption-ready, we work with adoption partners (PetSmart and Pet Valu) - and our shelter and foster volunteers - to match them with loving families in our community. We also work hard to reunite lost cats with their pet parents.
